Summary

Our client, a professional governing body in Kenya, wishes to recruit a highly competent, passionate, dedicated and results-oriented professional to fill the position of Standards & Compliance Officer.

The Standards & Compliance Officer is responsible for supporting the development, implementation and monitoring of standards, quality assurance systems and compliance frameworks governing nursing and midwifery education, training institutions, internship centres, health facilities and professional practice. The officer contributes to accreditation, inspections, investigations, regulatory audits, risk management and quality improvement initiatives to safeguard professional standards and public safety.

Description

Duties and responsibilities shall entail:

  1. Regulatory Standards Management
  • Implement approved regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Participate in development and review of standards, guidelines, audit tools and regulatory frameworks.
  • Support implementation of professional practice standards and quality benchmarks.
  1. Compliance Audits and Regulatory Inspections
  • Conduct compliance audits of health facilities, training institutions and internship centres.
  • Undertake inspections of nurse-led private practice facilities.
  • Participate in joint inspections with partner regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor implementation of corrective actions.
  1. Accreditation and Quality Assurance
  • Participate in programme accreditation and institutional approval assessments.
  • Support implementation of quality assurance frameworks and systems.
  • Maintain quality records and controlled documents.
  1. Professional Conduct and Investigations
  • Support investigations and inquiry processes involving professional misconduct.
  • Prepare case documentation and evidence summaries.
  • Monitor implementation of inquiry outcomes.
  1. Data Management, Research and Analytics
  • Maintain standards and compliance databases.
  • Analyze audit and inspection data.
  • Support research studies and policy development.
  • Generate regulatory intelligence reports.
  1. Risk Management and Governance
  • Participate in departmental risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Support implementation of governance and internal control frameworks.
  • Monitor compliance risks across regulated institutions.
  1. Stakeholder Engagement and Capacity Building
  • Provide regulatory guidance to institutions and practitioners.
  • Participate in stakeholder forums and awareness programmes.
  • Support dissemination of standards and compliance requirements.

Education

The successful candidate must have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Midwifery from a recognized institution.
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife.
  • Valid Practising License from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Membership in a relevant professional association in good standing.

More Details on Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years relevant experience in regulation, nursing practice, quality assurance, accreditation, compliance, education, inspection or a related field.

  • A Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) licensed by the Central Bank of Kenya.
