Our client, a professional governing body in Kenya, wishes to recruit a highly competent, passionate, dedicated and results-oriented professional to fill the position of Senior Corporate Communications Officer.
The Senior Corporate Communications Officer is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing strategic communication, public affairs, stakeholder engagement, media relations, branding and advocacy initiatives aimed at enhancing the visibility, reputation and public image of the Nursing Council of Kenya. The officer provides technical leadership in corporate communications, digital communications, publications, media engagement and dissemination of information relating to the Council’s mandate, programs and services.
Description
Duties and responsibilities shall entail:
- Developing and implementing the Council’s Corporate Communications and Visibility Strategy;
- Coordinating communication initiatives that support the Council’s strategic objectives and regulatory mandate;
- Managing the Council’s corporate image, reputation and brand identity;
- Coordinating media relations, press briefings, interviews and media engagements;
- Developing and disseminating communication materials including newsletters, annual reports, policy briefs, speeches, press releases and publications;
- Managing digital communication platforms including the Council website and social media channels;
- Monitoring media coverage and preparing media monitoring and analysis reports;
- Coordinating stakeholder engagement, public awareness and advocacy programs;
- Planning and implementing communication campaigns, outreach activities and public education initiatives;
- Producing multimedia communication content including photographs, videos and digital stories;
- Coordinating communication support for Council meetings, conferences, workshops and official events;
- Advising Management on communication, branding and reputation management matters;
- Developing and maintaining communication networks with government agencies, development partners, professional associations and other stakeholders;
- Responding to internal and external information requests relating to the Council’s activities;
- Coordinating crisis communication and reputation management initiatives;
- Supporting documentation of Council programs, projects, success stories and best practices;
- Ensuring compliance with communication policies, government communication guidelines and public sector communication standards;
- Supervising staff within the Communications Unit;
- Preparing departmental work plans, budgets and performance reports.
Education
- Master's Degree in Communication, Public Relations, Strategic Communication, Marketing, Public Policy or a related field from a recognized institution
- Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communication, Public Relations, Corporate Communication, Mass Communication or a related field from a recognized institution;
- Membership to a relevant professional body in good standing such as the Media Council of Kenya, Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) or equivalent;
- Certificate in Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
- Proficiency in computer applications;
- Demonstrated professional competence and achievement in work performance;

- Served in the grade of Communications Officer or a comparable position for a minimum period of five (5) years;
- At least seven (7) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which must have been at a supervisory level;

- A Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) licensed by the Central Bank of Kenya
