ROLE TITLE: Sacco Manager

FUNCTION: Administration

REPORT TO: Board of Directors

DIRECT REPORT: Chief Finance Officer

LOCATION: Kibera

Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Administration

  1. Day to day running of the Society while managing Sacco affairs in a competent manner
  2. Attending BOD meetings and AGM in an advisory capacity
  3. Representing the Society in business transactions
  4. Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements
  5. Handle official correspondences on behalf of the BOD
  6. Ensure adequate insurance is in place for the staff, BOD, and assets of the Society

Strategic/Operational

  1. Preparing and analyzing the Society business plan and budget annually
  2. Developing policies and business strategies aimed at helping the Sacco grow
  3. Developing and maintaining an organization structure that ensures effective communication channels through an appropriate chain of command
  1. Supervise the administration and processing of members loans
  2. Advise BOD on acceptable collaterals that can be used to secure Sacco’s loans
  3. Keep custody of the Assets register, important documents and keys
  4. Appraise staff on their performance and relations with members and colleagues
  5. Countersign all payments vouchers, cheques and authorize EFTs online
  6. Implement all Board recommendations/decisions
  7. Advise on and implement cost-cutting measures
  8. Appraise staff on their performance, relations with customers and colleagues

Financial Management

  1. Ensure adequate liquidity to meet members’ financial demands and operating expenses
  2. Advise BOD on the best way to build a strong capital base essential for the Sacco’s long term viability
  1. Advise the board on the most viable investment avenues for excess liquidity

Reports

  1. Ensure and cause the timely preparation of management reports, cash flows, and budgets and monitor their effective controls
  1. Ensure that proper books of account, records, and returns are kept and that regular financial, statistical and operational information is prepared and submitted to BOD

 

Education
Bachelors Degree In Finance Bachelors Degree In Accounting

 A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or business-related subject.

A Master’s degree in a Business-related subject will be an added advantage.

Certified Public Accountant CPA (K) / Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) / ACA certification.

Membership to relevant professional bodies with good standing e.g., ICPAK, IHRM, IMSK, etc.

More Details on Experience

Over 5 years of experience with an emphasis on financial institutions, 3 years of which you should be in senior management level, preferably at a financial institution (Bank, Sacco, Microfinance, etc.).
