Send a Cow Kenya (SACK) is looking for a full time project facilitator to lead the enterprise development component in Enterprising Migori project base in Migori county.

The successful candidate will provide leadership in capacity building, designing and implementing appropriate interventions within the enterprising Migori project with the objective of building viable community driven agribusiness enterprises. Description

Purpose of job
To provide leadership in capacity building, designing and implementing appropriate interventions within the enterprising Migori project with the objective of building viable community driven agribusiness enterprises. The facilitator will ensure significant partnerships with community based organizations, public and private organizations. This position entails community mobilization, provision of specialized practical enterprise development (business) advisory services, linkages and training to spur and address the commercial needs of various value chain actors within the horticulture (banana, pawpaw, pineapple), poultry and vegetable subsectors. The facilitator Will be a versatile member of the EMP under the overall leadership and supervision of the Project coordinator EMP with the guidance and advise of the SACK enterprise coordinator.


Key responsibilities

  1. Mobilize community based organizations to form formal collective viable enterprise - cluster organization to support sustainable marketing business in the sub sectors
  2. Build the capacity of CBOs involved in production /aggregation/marketing in governance,leadership and financial literacy
  3. Identify and support development of business opportunities that can attract different value chain actors to engage in transactional relationships with each other.
  4. Facilitate development of business planning guidelines and conducting business planning sessions with member organizations
  5. Work with thematic coordinators (Farm systems, Enterprise and Gender &social inclusion) and other project facilitators to identify and develop investment and financing options in horticulture, local chicken and vegetable value chains with the view to increase net returns to actors
  6. Help establish and or strengthen existing savings and credit schemes at SHGs, GMC, and other CBOs for self-financing and link to financial institutions.
  7. Work with other key relevant value chain actors to identity potential strategies that accelerate increased investments in the subsectors.
    8. Provide ongoing support to member organizations with the view to increase production and business capacity
  8. Provide consistent and relevant support to member organizations with the view to source and sustain appropriate markets.
  9. Monitor, appraise and report on business development activities of the project periodically(monthly, quarterly, ad hoc etc)
  10. Any other relevant duties to be assigned by the supervisor.

Education
Diploma In Agricultural Economics, Business Management Or Any Relevant Field From A Recognized Institution

  • Bachelor’s level qualification in agricultural economics, agricultural business management, or any other relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position.

More Details on Experience

  • At least 3 years of hands on experience in working with grassroots organizations.
  • Proven track record of supporting CBOs to engage in building enterprises under varied and challenging environment.
  • Practical experience in building public/private partnerships.
  • Experience working with diverse agencies to
    implement community projects

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform a variety of repetitive and routine tasks and duties related to enterprise development, data collection monitoring and
    evaluation.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work under time constraints;
