Summary

The Production Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting machinery and equipment on the production floor. This role ensures that manufacturing processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely while meeting strict quality standards and output targets.

Description

1. Machine Operation & Process Control

  • Set up, calibrate, and operate semi-automated or automated production machinery and specialized equipment.
  • Monitor equipment gauges, indicators, and software interfaces to ensure optimal operating parameters (e.g., speed, temperature, pressure).
  • Load raw materials or components into machines and manage the flow of the production line.

 2. Quality Assurance & Inspection

  • Perform routine quality checks and physical inspections of in-process and finished goods against blueprint specifications or standard formulations.
  • Identify, log, and isolate defective materials or deviations from quality standards to prevent waste.
  • Accurately record production data, including batch logs, cycle times, and reject rates.

 3. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and minor mechanical or electrical adjustments when equipment malfunctions.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance (e.g., cleaning, lubricating, and replacing wearable parts) to minimize unexpected downtime.

 4. Safety, Compliance & Cleanliness

  • Strictly adhere to all workplace safety guidelines, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area, utilizing standard workplace organization methodologies like 5S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
  • Report any safety hazards, near-misses, or equipment defects to the shift supervisor immediately.

 

Education

  • A technical Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering / Technology is highly desirable.

  • 1–2 years of experience working as a machine operator within a manufacturing, assembly, or industrial processing environment.

  • Attention to Detail: Precision in measuring inputs, checking quality tolerances, and maintaining accurate batch documentation.
  • Teamwork & Communication: Ability to collaborate seamlessly with shift teammates, supervisors, and quality control staff.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to work in shifts (day/night rosters) and adapt to changing production priorities.
