As People Lead, you will lead on supporting effective people management (employees and volunteers) across VSO’s global portfolio through the use of people policies, business systems, processes, and tools to strengthen successful project implementation of Volunteering for Development work across VSO.
Description
Responsibilities
- Maintain VSO People systems and processes as suitable for use in Programme Implementation
- Support Project Leads and Project People Managers to monitor performance across blended teams of employees and volunteers in ways that allow for effective compliance and management.
- Support Project Leads and Project People Managers to monitor team engagement levels with the work of their project and the VSO approach.
- Provide leadership in working with VSO people processes, values and approaches across the range of project implementation teams.
- Provide professional coaching and mentoring to Project People Managers
- Produce straightforward, valuable, people-based management information, by project, to improve processes, performance and decision making.
- Maintain an overview of employment law and volunteering conditions across all jurisdictions where VSO are implementing work.
- Maintain an overview and report regularly on pay ratios and gender pay gaps by project, work with Project Leads to mitigate risks as they emerge and action plan to reduce gaps.
Collaboration
- On learning systems and identification of development opportunities with Learning and Organizational Development Network to influence organisation learning and allocation of resource With global people team to maintain alignment and inform the VSO pay framework with pay, benefits levels, and market rate information.
- Lead and support effective people incident, case management, and safeguarding responses and contribute people input to incident response process improvement from within the implementation team.
- With the Global People team to inform VSO’s global people framework, policies, and talent management.
- With portfolio implementation managers ensure that our people practices are in place throughout all stages of project implementation
- With programme development and set-up team ensure effective project team people details, including costs, are captured accurately in VSO systems.
- With global implementation team management ensure duty of care capacity is maintained within project teams.
- With Project Leads and Project People Managers providing support on a range of complex HR issues
- With global implementation management to ensure early detection, identification, mitigating and management of risks across the portfolio of work.
- Contribute to and lead as required on project team design within the VSO Proposal Development Process (Magenta)
Education
- A recognized professional qualification in Human Resources Management or equivalent in HR leadership experience.
- Knowledge and experience of Human Resource
- Information systems (preferably Salesforce) and
- Microsoft 365, with the ability to produce HR/ People data reports and analyse for decision making.
More Details on Experience
- Significant generalist Human Resources or People Business Partner experience gained working at a senior level in a volunteering/ non-governmental organisational context.
- Substantial experience of creating, influencing, and developing a high performing, globally dispersed team,
- Ability to understand business/organisation purpose and the role that people management can play in adding value.
- Sound commercial and financial awareness of people costs, operational costs and working with grant and contract funding.
- Considerable experience managing professional and collaborative relationships with managers and employees at all levels.
- Experience of cross-cultural working and an understanding of issues of inclusion and diversity
