We are looking for a responsible teacher to teach Mathematics and Business at St. Joseph Technical Secondary School.
Who we are
St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church was established in Kangemi (Nairobi) in 1985 by the Jesuits of the East African Province.
The Saint Joseph the Worker Development Office was created for the purpose of managing and coordinating the various development projects that Jesuits implement in Kangemi. These projects seek to promote a society free from all forms of discrimination, in which everyone have the opportunity to develop their full potential. Over the years, the Development Office has striven to accompany the empowerment processes of the most vulnerable and impoverished persons and communities, survivors of Gender Based Violence, People Living with HIV/AIDS within Kangemi location.

Description
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To participate in the curriculum and institutional development of the School through participating in the assigned tasks;
- preparing and delivering lessons to a range of classes of different ages and abilities;
- marking work, giving appropriate feedback and maintaining records of students' progress and development;
- timely reporting of students results to the appropriate authorities;
- liaising with the dean and principal to address the needs of the students;
- researching new topic areas, maintaining up-to-date subject knowledge, and devising and writing new curriculum materials;
- selecting and using a range of different learning resources and equipment;
- preparing students for qualifications and external examinations;
- managing student behaviour in the classroom and on school premises, and applying appropriate and effective measures in cases of misbehaviour;
- undertaking pastoral duties, such as taking on the role of form tutor, and supporting students on an individual basis through academic or personal difficulties;
- accompanying students for pastoral programmes, visits and activities;
- communicating with parents and carers over students' progress and participating in departmental meetings, parents' evenings and whole school training events;
- liaising with other professionals, such as learning mentors, careers advisers, educational psychologists and education welfare officers;
- participating in and organising extracurricular activities, such as outings, social activities and sporting events;
- Undergoing regular observations and participating in regular in-service training as part of continuing professional development.
- To strictly observe the following as a matter of policy
- Monitor class attendance
- Be present and participate where necessary in games, and all school functions such as assembly and team building
- Signing in and out
- Seek permission in writing from relevant authorities to be absent from class and must arrange for one to take his or her classes
- Present teaching records promptly: twice a month or as required
- Since Salaries are paid throughout the year, those not on official leave are expected to be on duty throughout the year
- Other duties that may be required of you from the administration
Education
Bachelor Degree in Education.
More Details on Experience
Have a minimum of a years teaching experience in teaching.
More Details on Skills
- The ideal person should possess a minimum degree in the specific subject teaching areas of Maths/Business.
- Must be TSC registered.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Email usage, Google Suite, internet searching and willing to learn new computer skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills in English.
