Summary
Our cliet a leading Network and Telco service provider is looking for a qualified and experienced Fiber Project Supervision & EHS Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will oversee fiber optic cable installations on KPLC overhead powerlines and ensure strict compliance with technical standards and safety regulations.
This role requires a hands-on leader who can coordinate field teams, enforce Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) practices, and deliver projects to the highest quality standards.
The successful candidate must have KPLC class 15 and supervision experience.
Description
- Supervise and monitor daily fiber optic cable installation activities on KPLC overhead lines
- Ensure all work complies with KPLC Class 14 & 15 standards and project specifications
- Conduct on-site inspections to monitor progress and quality
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and the project management team to resolve field issues promptly.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act, 2007) and KPLC safety regulations.
- Carry out hazard assessments and safety briefings before work commences
- Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to safe work procedures, especially for work at heights and near live powerlines.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, and maintain accurate EHS records
- Prepare daily progress, safety, and incident reports
- Maintain records of site activities, materials used, and manpower deployed
Education
- KPLC Class 14 & 15 certification (Fiber Optic Overhead Installation).
- At least 3 years’ experience supervising fiber optic cable installations on overhead powerlines
- Solid knowledge of KPLC safety and technical standards
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
