Our client a leading organization in Kenya's agricultural sector, dedicated to ensuring fair and transparent trading practices, seeks to hire a Compliance offier. He/She ensures the organization adheres to external regulations and internal policies. The role involves overseeing compliance activities, conducting audits, and implementing procedures to mitigate risk and ensure legal and ethical integrity within the organization.

Description
Compliance Oversight:
i Develop and implement and maintains compliance policies and procedures.
ii Monitor regulatory changes and ensures the organization aligns with relevant laws and standards.
iii Conduct compliance risk assessments and develops strategies to address identified risks.
Regulatory Reporting:
i Ensure timely and accurate reports to regulatory bodies and government agencies.
ii Collaborate with legal counsel to interpret regulations and ensures compliance with reporting requirements.
iii Respond to inquiries and requests for information from regulatory agencies.
Training and Education:
i Develop and delivers training programs to educate employees on compliance procedures, and regulatory requirements.
ii Provide guidance and support to departments to ensure understanding and adherence to compliance standards.
Investigations and Remediation:
i Investigate potential compliance violations, ethical concerns, or fraudulent activities.
ii Coordinate remediation efforts to address identified issues and prevent recurrence.
iii Document investigations and implements corrective measures.
Stakeholder Communication:
i Serve as the liaison between internal departments, senior management, external auditors, and regulatory agencies.
ii Communicate compliance requirements, audit findings, and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
iii Build and maintains relationships with relevant regulatory agencies.
Continuous Improvement:
i Evaluate and improves compliance and audit processes for effectiveness and efficiency.
ii Monitor industry best practices and incorporates relevant updates into organization’s compliance framework.
Risk Management:
i Identify and assess compliance risks associated with business activities and recommends measures to mitigate those risks.
ii Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address potential compliance issues.
Education
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Law or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), or similar credentials is preferred.

At least 3 years of experience with a strong understanding of regulatory compliance, requirements and standards, is required.
