The East African Wild Life Society (EAWLS) is a membership-based NGO that seeks to enhance the conservation and wise use of the environment and natural resources in East Africa for the benefit of current and future generations. We are seeking an energetic, innovative and visionary new team member who will assist in building upon our more than 60 years of experience and leadership in the conservation sector, by enhancing our impacting on environmental matters in target regions of East Africa.
The East African Wild Life Society (EAWLS) is seeking to fill the above named position with a dynamic, forward-thinking achiever with expertise in Finance and accounting.

Description
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Payments:
• Monitor the cash position of all EAWLS bank accounts weekly.
• Oversee the payments to suppliers including utilities on a timely basis.
• Overall responsibility over monthly NHIF, NSSF, PAYE, NITA, VAT and Housing Levy returns and
ensuring they are paid promptly.
• Authorized bank agent: Can initiate correspondence with our bankers on any issues noted.
• Filing and remitting HELB & Withholding Tax by the stipulated deadlines
• Verify/Check and post all admin surrenders ensuring all discrepancies noted, if any, are handled in the appropriate manner. Also ensure that all Imprests surrenders are checked by the Finance Manager before filing
• Advise the Membership/Swara offices on all membership direct deposits when received.
Monthly Payroll:
• Preparing the monthly payroll ensuring all necessary staff deductions are captured correctly.
• Ensure all statutory deductions are captured correctly.
• Once complete, the same shall be submitted to the Finance Manager for uploading into the bank online system for payment.
• Post the payroll into the accounting system once complete after verification by the Finance Manager and Executive Director.
Trade Debtors / Members:
• Raise and post debtors’ and members’ invoices as required ensuring that they comply with KRA e-tims requirements.
• Point of contact with Swara and membership Offices
• Raise staff invoices as required
• Produce debtors’ age analysis.
• Prepare debtors’ statements monthly.
• Undertake Debt collection – Swara - when the relevant persons require assistance
• Analyse the validity of debtors’ balances.
• Post all membership payments into the accounting system.
Inventory:
• Raise inventory invoices based on sales reports
• Add inventory into the Accounting System when inventory is purchased ensuring the correct purchase and sales prices are indicated.
• Post all inventory imprests ensuring all the necessary journals are captured correctly.
Postings
• Code, Capture/Post ALL Admin cheque requisition.
• Direct payments into the foreign and admin accounts
• Monthly Journals including depreciation, medical, group life, audit fees, NSSF, money market interests
Education
- Professional accounting qualification i.e. CPA-K/ACCA
- Bachelor of Commerce/BA in Finance/Accounting or related field from a recognized institution.
- Knowledge in using SAGE 200 and SAGE 300 People will be an added advantage
