Summary

  • Our client in the media industry is seeking to hire an Agency Sales Manager to develop a working and robust agency sales strategy, obtain approval, implement and drive sales for the group for all products.

Description

  • Meet your performance targets and KPIs as set by management annually.
  • Hard selling and negotiation of airtime including sponsorships and promotions from agency clients.
  • Maintain effective client service through use of the company’s calling cycle.
  • Conduct monthly analysis of media advertising expenditure to help determine which clients your team can critically focus on to maximize sales volume and growth.
  • Enforce the company’s credit policy with no debt beyond the agreed credit period.
  • Ensure effective debt collection.
  • Provide excellent major account management and in line with this, develop first point contact between the stations and direct clients and use excellent interpersonal skills to keep the business relationships strong.
  • Keep the team focused on their goals, allay any doubts about the brand and build internal loyalty for assigned brands and ensure that monthly targets are met and surpassed.
  • Liaise with HR to conduct annual training needs analysis and implementation of the training calendar for the sales team.
  • Handle administrative issues within the department
  • Build a formidable and sought after sales team for the assigned brands.
  • Conduct price surveys, customer satisfaction surveys and other market research in liaison with the Research and Development department.
  • Acquire new business opportunities to achieve set targets and ensure business growth.
  • Conduct market intelligence and guide the marketing team on opportunities on the ground and how best to take advantage of them.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports and any other reports as agreed with the Group COO to provide timely guidance on any intervention and thereafter follow up on all agreed action and update the next report.
  • Ensure that the customer relationship management database is updated daily on all sales activity, meetings, events and customer contacts.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Department to market the brands and position them as per the Company’s strategy.
  • Source continuously for CVs of excellent sales personnel, hire in liaison with the HR Manager, on need basis and as per approvals, train, motivate and retain the team which is built.
  • Ensure that the ERP is updated daily on all sales activity, meetings, events and customer contacts.
  • Ensure proper and thorough on-boarding which is also documented and a copy goes to the personnel file for record
  • Instill brand loyalty and a culture of championing the brand amongst the sales executives
  • Conduct yourself in a manner worthy of respect in the company as well as outside the company and ensure that your conduct does not bring the company into disrepute or cause staff to lose respect for your position as a manager or lose faith in your ability to lead. This includes conduct at all company functions.
  • Give feedback for presenters based on execution of the advertisements and promotions and make recommendations on how to give maximum value to our clients and instill loyalty amongst clients through the knowledge that we have their solutions.
  • Reconcile customers’ accounts on monthly basis and work with Accounts to ensure monthly statements are signed off and dispatched to all credit clients.
  • Ensure that all staff have their dashboard/KPIs signed within one week of joining the company or by 1st July each year as is relevant and fully explain to them the importance of looking at their KPIs each morning to ensure a proper focus on what is most critical.
  • Hold monthly sectional meetings with the HR Business Process Manager to address any issues that staff may have and give an audience for any emerging issues while also updating staff on management expectations and any events or changes that affects them. Take minutes at all such meetings
  • Attend weekly Sales Managers meeting and present forecasts and updates of where your team is and the plan for the week and the month.
  • Conduct appraisals within the probation deadlines and the mid-year and annual appraisals as well as any other appraisal as required and make objective recommendations on the way forward. Ensure honest conversations with staff but also continuously give feedback to staff to ensure that there are no surprises during the performance appraisal and use the performance management tool to enable you drive performance.
  • Handle administrative issues within the department.
  • Coach, mentor and manage the performance of staff within the department.

 

Education

  • Degree in Marketing, Commerce, Sales or related field.
  • MBA (Marketing option) is an added advantage.
  • Diploma in Sales, Marketing, Public Relations.
  • CIM, MSK, PRSK membership.
