Introduction

CISP (International Committee for the Development of Peoples) is an Italian NGO established in 1983, which acts in the international cooperation field and in the fight against social exclusion. CISP has been working in Kenya since 1991 in different sectors and is currently seeking a Social Worker competent in Child Protection to work within the framework of our projects in child protection sector
 

Minimum Requirements

The social worker will be required to manage and deal with all children in need identified within the framework of our projects and will advocate and deal with communities at large about children's rights. The social workers will be answerable to the CISP Area Coordinator.

Roles and reponsibilities:
1. Support the implementation of children’s activities within the framework of CISP projects in Malindi and Magarini Districts
2. Facilitate and coordinate planned activities for children also drafting workplan
3. Participate in seminars, workshops, conferences on issues related to the rights of children and disseminate information to the children, community and other stakeholders
4. Advocate for children and sensitize the community on the rights and welfare of the Child
5. Participate in identification of potential partners within Malindi district and assessing their capacity to work with CISP and for children
6. Participate in identifying and supporting activities that promote child protection in schools and the community
7. Intergrate children with their families and provide socialization for families
8. Participating in multidisciplinary teams and meetings, for example child protection, advocacy, health promotion, education, economic empowerment etc, that aim at promoting child protection in the community
9. Planning and organizing Child protection trainings for CBOs
10. Supporting CBOs in the organization of awareness creation activities in the community
11. Monitoring the implementation of the activities within CISP child protection projects
12. Writing monthly reports about the activities carried out and the impact of CISP intervention in the area
13. Liaise with other stakeholders representing CISP in meeting and in particular with the Child Protection Centre in Malindi
14. Perform any other duties as requested by CISP Area Coordinator 

Qualifications:
• Degree holder in social work or a related field from a recognized institution
• 5-7 years of experience as a social worker, of which 3 years should be in child protection in Malindi
• Commitment to working with children, young people and women 
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Respect to cultural diversity
• Knowledge of Mijikenda and the geography of Malindi will be an added advantage
