Purpose of the role

The Regional Human Resources Coordinator performs professional and special project function on operational support Greenpeace country offices excluding South Africa. S/he will serve as the Lead Recruiter for middle to junior level roles for the Africa countries for Greenpeace in East, Central and West Africa. The incumbent will play a coordinating role for the recruitment of senior level positions. S/he will also provide technical HR support services to projects and activities in the said regions in key HR functional areas including but not limited to; Employee Contracting, Remuneration and Benefits administration, Staff Transitions Management, Staff Wellness, Management of Employee data, payroll management, Staff Statutory deductions and payments, Employee health and all insurance and benefits management, Leave Management, Employee Filing and proper documentation, Management of Employee safety, health, compliance and issues on this, safeguarding and protection, employee relations, management of the HR information system amongst other HR functional areas.

Main responsibilities

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Working closely with the Human Resources Director, the Regional HR Coordinator will be responsible for:

Recruitment:

 

Performance Management:

Ensure that GPAf job profiles and competency profiles are reviewed and updated in line with staff expected deliverables for the countries except for SA. Ensure that the countries run a robust performance management system that creates accountability towards the organisational objectives

Learning and Development: Working with the HR Director, design and implement a people development strategy for GPAf to achieve results aligned to its purpose and overarching goals in east, Central and WA countries.

Design and implement career management plans for staff together with the HRD. Communicate, educate on and monitor resulting processes and cycles.

Employee Relations: Promote and initiate processes and system that strengthen employee engagement and morale issues within the countries

Management of Staff Files and records: Manage the creation and storage of all employee files and documents and ensure that they are well secured but accessible on need in Kenya and other countries within the region.

Payroll Management: Ensure timely, accurate and efficient payroll management in Kenya.

HR Information System and Data Integrity: Ensure the relevance of HRIS through understanding of business needs and benchmarking. Ensure that the HR information system is accurately updated and the correct and relevant employee data for business needs and decisions.

Leave Management: Work closely with managers in the countries except SA to ensure that the leave policy is well followed and complied to.

Management of Employee Wellness programs: Design, implement and promote the employee assistance program for GPAf. Consult with all relevant stakeholders in the organisation of the appropriate and desirable employee wellness initiatives.

Management of employee exits processes: Coordinate with transiting employees and their managers on all exit procedures including exit interviews, returning of organisational items and the dues clearance procedures.
