Job Specification
· To manage the ECA Area business on BAT across all brands and Trade with the support of Account Managers, Account Executives and Channel Planner
· To have complete responsibility for the management of his/her team, setting the long term vision for the business, managing the Client needs and expectations at the most senior level, seeking opportunities to engage in broader business dialogue with Clients
· To be responsible for the quality of the Agency’s relationship with each Client; he/she should forge strong links at the senior Client level based on mutual trust and respect. These should form the basis of a long term partnership with the Client
· To regularly seeks out ways to add value to the Client/Agency relationship (e.g. effecting introductions to other members of Agency management, Agency presentations on broader industry issues)
Key Responsibilities
· To have a good understanding of the role of communication within the broader business context to aid the development of the Agency’s relationship with the Client from advertising supplier to marketing partner
· To have a thorough understanding of all dynamics operating in the market and the consumer’s relationship with the brand
· To be responsible for developing a deep understanding of the Client’s brands and for the effective stewardship of those brands in the short and long term
· In partnership with the Planning, to apply innovative thinking to the development of insightful communication strategies, a longer term brand vision and outstanding creative briefs
· To have a good cross-discipline understanding, i.e. an up-to-date grasp of planning and media tools, print and production techniques, and below-the-line communication channels including PR, Sales Promotion, Direct Marketing, Sponsorship and Interactive
· In conjunction with the Creative Director, the Area Business Director is ultimately responsible for the quality of the creative work on his/her Clients and for motivating members of the team to achieve the highest creative standards
· Must understand how to inspire and manage the Creative department as well as having the ability to recognise great advertising ideas
· To build the trust of key Clients, giving them the confidence to buy brave ideas
· To work with Account Team and devise the best way to sell creative work to the Client – and then does so with total conviction
· To lead the Account Team in developing positive and constructive relationships with other departments
· To provide advice, support and troubleshooting where necessary to ensure all projects are completed to the highest standards, on brief, on budget and on time
· To prepare Business Plans and Brand Strategies which define the needs of the accounts including business development opportunities and resource needs agreed with Department Heads
· To have the ultimate responsibility for the long term profitability of the account: negotiate fees, control costs, maximise revenue and seek new income opportunity
· To act in accordance with company policies and procedures at all times and routinely invest in building agency morale and capacities
· To be familiar with and support achievement of, the company’s vision and exemplifies the company’s values and ethics
Key Deliverables
· Efficient management of the entire business group across all parameters
· Involvement in Recruitment for the combined business groups
· Management of the Client at the most senior levels – both local, regional and global
· Regular senior client contact – once a month for general reviews and quarterly updates
· Strategic partnerships with clients – cross category and brand
· Strategic management of all the brands and channels within agency and within client organisation
· Involvement on all key strategic and operational decision making on all businesses – within agency and client organisation
· Wholly responsible for Client Appraisals of agency and Reverse Appraisals of client
· Management of the client’s Brand guardians at EEMEA and Global levels
· Management of relationship between all client’s group companies on the specific business
· Superlative knowledge of cross channel and media vehicles
· 360 Guardianship – Brand forecasting and cross channel recommendations and selling
· Approval of all Campaign and 360 briefs within business group
· Incorporation of all Regional and Global best practice across brands and agency parameters within business group
· Efficient crisis control and management
· Overall delivery on business group goals and objectives
· Approval and delivery of annual Business and Resource plans
· Competent ownership of the P&L of entire brand group
